Casa da Lusofonia (CLUC) is a new place located in the Campus I of the University of Coimbra (UC) that aims to facilitate the creation of links between Portuguese-speaking students and the national and international students of UC.
CLUC is the head office of the unions of the Portuguese-speaking students from: Angola, Brazil, Cape Verde, Guinea Bissau, Mozambique, Sao Tome and Principe and East Timor. It counts also on the collaboration of the Erasmus Student Network (ESN) and of the UC Students’ Union (AAC – Coimbra Academic Association).
Simultaneously, CLUC is an international student lounge and a meeting point for all students interested in the internationalisation of their curriculum. There students will find the front-office staff of the International Relations Unit of UC ready to help them with a variety of issues related to incoming and outgoing mobility.
CLUC is the place where the students’ unions meet to work and help out in the welcome of Portuguese-speaking and other international students of UC. With the aim of promoting the development of joint initiatives and intercultural communication among the local and the international students and their unions, CLUC offers them a dedicated room for working meetings and a multipurpose hall for exhibitions, colloquia, round-tables, and other cultural activities.
The creation of this multicultural space is part of the internationalisation strategy of the University of Coimbra in which the dissemination of the Portuguese language and cultures plays a fundamental role.
