As a Judicial
Court, the aim is to shorten the distance between justice and teaching, to
approach legal learning and judicial practice.
The fact
that it is a normal judicial court implies that experience and innovation rest
on the existing judicial structures:
- The
judges and public prosecutors will be magistrates chosen by the leading organs
according to a special procedure; - The
results of the project will be even more positive if there is a personal
commitment by the magistrates (for instance: judges from superior courts should
be available to establish a dialogue with the students, teachers and
researchers, cooperating in legal research as well as in jurisprudence and
doctrinal research);
- Protocols
between the Ministry of Justice and the University of Coimbra will allow the
judges to be professors, teaching law at the University of Coimbra. This is
also valid for some lawyers, who will also teach at the University of Coimbra.
