The University of Coimbra recognizes, values and encourages its best by awarding merit scholarships to students enrolled in technology related courses, bachelor, combined master and master programs and awards to the top 3% of students. UC also guarantees equal opportunity in completing a university education, independently of economic situation, through general scholarships to help lower dropout rates and reward academic success.

The University awards the top 3% of students in each program, an annual amount equal to the difference between the minimum and maximum tuition.
| Merit Scholarships (in portuguese)|
Paid annually, an amount equal to five times the national monthly minimum wage, awarded to students with the highest grades in each Faculty. Students who are awarded merit scholarships receive a diploma free of charge and the scholarship is noted in the Supplement to Diploma.

Available to Portuguese and European Union students. Go to Health and Social Services for more info. A new phase opened for scholarship applications and goes until 31 January.

University students also have access to the Leonardo da Vinci, Santander Universities, SYFF, Millenium BCP and many other scholarships that the University makes available to various countries.
