ANICT Symposium 2011
The ANICT Symposium series aims to be a forum where researchers, policy makers and the general public can discuss a number of themes related to Science Policy. The 2011 Symposium will be devoted to the issues of:
- International Research Career
- Researcher Evaluation
The Symposium is organized by ANICT - Associação Nacional de Investigadores em Ciência e Tecnologia and will take place at Fundação Engenheiro António de Almeida, Porto on September 10th 2011.

The Open Access in the 7º PQ Projects – OpenAIRE
SIBUC - Integrates Service of the University of Coimbra and the Institute for Interdisciplinary Research (IIIUC) invites all interested to be attend the event "The Open Access in the 7th PQ Projects - OpenAIRE", on June 29, 9.30 a.m., at the Institute for Interdisciplinary Research.
This session aims at informing the academic community, especially the researchers involved in the 7th PQ projects, to the importance of publishing in free access the scientific output of their research.
In this context, we invited Eloy Rodrigues and Pedro Príncipe, form the University of Minho, responsible for the Open Access projects in Portugal, to present the Open Access EU policies and the project OpenAIRE.

EMUNI Doctoral Seminar Research - Genova - 18-23 July 2011
The Faculty of Political Science - University of Genova (Italy) will host a Doctoral Seminar Research on "Civil Rights Protection and the Rights of Migrants in the Framework of Mediterranmean Cooperation" form the 18th to the 23rd of July 2011.

Humboldt Conference 2011

Premio Mauro Cappelletti 2010
Former UC ERASMUS student receives international award
Joana Mendes, former student att he Faculty of Law of the University of Coimbra and former ERASMUS student in Siena (1997/98), won the 2010 Prize Mauro Cappelletti , awarded by the European University Institute (EUI) for best thesis in comparative law.
This thesis was also distinguished by the University of Oxford, and published as a book: “Participation in EU Rule-making. A Rights-based Appraoch, Oxford: Oxford University Press, 2011”.

SERENATA AOS INVESTIGADORES - 17 February, 17H30
The Post-Graduate Mobility Centre of the University of Coimbra, part of the International Relations Office, will promote a SERENATA AOS INVESTIGADORES, on February 17, at 5:30 p.m., at the D. Dinis Cultural Centre.
The event, especially conceived to all the researchers of the University of Coimbra, aims to promote the meeting of researchers from different backgrounds, allowing them to get in touch with the Portuguese culture and with the traditions of Coimbra.
This event is supported by the EURAXESS Portugal network. EURAXESS is a unique EU initiative intending to create a more favourable environment for researchers. CNC PhD's present their research works
The VII Annual Meeting of the Center for Neuroscience and Cell Biology took place between 20 and 21 December 2010, an event in which several scientific works were presented, some of them published in international journals.

2nd Summer Undergraduate Research (SUR) Programme
The UNIL's School of Biology launches a call for applications to the 2nd Summer Undergraduate Research (SUR) Programme in the biological sciences.
This English-taught 8-week programme (July 4th to August 26th, 2011) aims at introducing Bachelor-level students to the world of biological and biomedical research: Individual students will be each integrated in a different experimental research laboratory of the School of Biology. This second edition of the SUR Programme will host around 25 participants from all over the world, including a couple of local students.
A scholarship toward tuition costs, living expenses and justified travel costs will be awarded to all selected participants. Participants will be selected by written application.
Application deadline: 15 February 2011.

IECOB
The Institute for Central and Eastern Europe and the Balkans (IECOB) of the University of Bologna has launched a call for applications addressed to European and Russian PhD students, within the framework of the EU-funded Jean Monnet project "EU and the New Neighbours: In Search of a New Relationship".
The Institute offers to 10 PhD students a grant covering travel and subsistence costs for attending a conference and seminar to be held in Forlì (Italy) from 28th May to 1st June 2007. The grant aims to support research in human sciences on neighbourhood policy and the relations between the Russian Federation and the European Union.
Applications must be submitted to Anna Quici quici@coimbra-group.be before 20 March 2007.
