The PhD in Computational Algebra is a program offered jointly by the Open University and the University of Coimbra, in an e-learning system. This program aims at developing the area of Computational Algebra, one of the most active and promising research areas in Mathematics, overlapping Computer Science, thus attracting professionals from both areas.
The use of online teaching techniques allows this program to bring together a recognized group of national and international researchers and students interested in this topic, independently of their location.
Applications for the PhD in Computational Algebra are open from August 22nd until September 5th. For more information, please go to the following link.
Computational Algebra is a growing subject all over the world, and this PhD program aims at contributing to its scientific and technical development. We wish to attract professional programmers and mathematicians interested in research cooperation. The objective is to form a group of highly qualified researchers, able to produce computational tools in the area of symbolic computation for the use of the international mathematical community. Participation in research projects, spin-off creation and new scientific jobs will be the natural result of the activities carried out by this group.
The PhD in Computational Algebra program is offered in an e-learning system, and consists of two semesters of coursework, followed by six semesters dedicated to research and writing a PhD thesis.
