Conceição Lobo

Conceição Lobo, M.D., Ph.D. was born in Sever do Vouga - Aveiro, Portugal. She was obtained is medical licenciature at the University of Coimbra in 1989. She began his residency in Ophthalmology in University Hospital of Coimbra and she is Ophthalmology consultant since 1996.

The development of multimodal macular mapping in diabetic retinopathy and evaluation of macular edema was the topic of her doctorate grade obtained in 2002. She was since this date Assistant Professor of Ophthalmology of the Coimbra Faculty of Medicine. In the University Hospital of Coimbra she is responsible for the Cataract and Implant-Refractive Surgery Section.

She has been Coordinator of the Portuguese Implant-Refractive Surgery Section (CIRP) of the Portuguese Ophthalmological Society (SPO) from 2003 to 2004 and is now Vice-President of the SPO.

She is a principal investigator of Association for Innovation and Biomedical Research on Light and Image (AIBILI) from 1993 and has participated in a number of clinical research projects and clinical trials in diabetic retinopathy and cataract surgery. She has published over 43 peer-reviewed journal articles.
