Joana Gonçalves

In 2005, I got my B. Sc. degree in Biology in Faculty of Sciences and Technology of University of Coimbra. From 2005 to 2007, I was in Institute of Molecular Pathology and Immunology at the University of Porto (IPATIMUP) with a Fellowship of Initiation to Scientific Research.

In 2008, I started my PhD in Bioscience (Faculty of Sciences and Technology, University of Coimbra). This project aimed to disclose the role of pro-inflammatory cytokines and neuropeptide Y in methamphetamine-induced hippocampal dysfunction (SFRH/BD/35893/2007) and was held in Laboratory of Pharmacology and Experimental Therapeutic (Group D) under supervision of Doctor Ana Paula Silva. During my PhD, I developed same work in Laboratory of Neuropsychiatry, Rigshospitalet University Hospital, Department of Neuroscience and Pharmacology, University of Copenhagen, Denmark. More recently, I was granted with FEBS Short-Term Fellowship from Federation of the Societies of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology to spent 2 months in Laboratory of Psychobiology of Drug Addiction, Department of Psychobiology, Faculty of Psychology of UNED, Madrid, Spain.

Since June 2012, I have a Pos-Doc Fellow in a project entitled “Centro-07-ST24-FEDER-002005 - From molecules to man: novel diagnostic imaging tools in neurological and psychiatric disorders”, under supervision of Professor Miguel Castelo-Branco (Group B).
