I´m a BSc in Psychology (University of Coimbra) since 2004. My interests, from that point on, have been concerned mainly with the fields of neuropsychology and neuroscience.
Since 2007 I have been working as a research assistant in several neuroscientific projects in the research group of Functional imaging and translational research in neuroscience, under the coordination of Prof. Dr. Miguel Castelo-Branco, at the IBILI. I was enrolled in research projects on dementia, including Alzheimer´s Disease, Mild Cognitive Impairment and Dementia with Lewy Bodies. Our main interest was to find possible (bio)markers that might lead to better diagnosis and, therefore, better clinical interventions. Since 2009, I devoted myself to the study of dyslexia. Our objective is to investigate reading mechanisms using different methodologies, such as psychophysical tasks associated with eye movement recording, neuropsychological assessment and neuroimaging techniques.
In 2010 I started my PhD in Biomedical Sciences (Faculty of Medicine of the University of Coimbra). In this project, we intend to investigate the role of attention deficits in reading impairments found in dyslexia (SFRH/BD/75083/2010).
