Joana Sampaio

Joana Sampaio is a neuroscience research assistant at IBILI since 2005, having participated in several projects on the Visual Neuroscience Lab.

Born in Portugal, she obtained her B.Sc. degree in Electrical Engineering at the University of Coimbra, with main focus on automation, robotics and computer vision areas. During this 5 year degree graduation, she spent one semester studying at the University of Delft, Netherlands, during which attended courses in biomedical engineering areas.

Recently she post graduated in industrial and automation informatics. On the laboratory and seminar courses of this graduation, she developed an automatic facial expression recognition and classification system.

Nowadays, her current work at IBILI includes development of new visual function assessment tests as well as implementation of software to analyze eye movement data.

Scientific Interest:

computer vision, eye movement analysis, chromatic and achromatic colour vision assessment and human-computer interaction
