Research Project: Incredible Years for the Promotion of Mental Health

The Incredible Years Programmes

The Incredible Years programmes, developed by Carolyn Webster-Stratton in Seattle, are evidence-based intervention programmes aimed at parents, teachers and children. The main objective of all the programmes is to promote children’s social, emotional and academic skills, helping to effectively reduce behavioural problems at an early stage. The approach is collaborative, centred on the promotion of positive childrearing practices, using video modelling and role-playing sessions. The effectiveness of the Incredible Years programmes in the prevention and timely intervention in behaviour problems in pre-school age children has been amply demonstrated.
