The Faculty of Psychology and Education Sciences of the University of Coimbra, within its Research and Development Units and its associated research facilities, undertakes research work that is recognised for its quality and scientific relevance, as evidenced by the number of ongoing funded projects and the level of scientific publications of the Faculty’s teachers, many of which have won awards and recognition in national and international events.
Research and Development Units
The Faculty of Psychology and Education Sciences has two Research and Development Units, evaluated and recognised by the National Scientific and Technological System.
The Faculty of Psychology and Education Sciences coordinates or is a partner in several research projects, both with national and international funding.
Research Groups are "collegiate functional structures, tending to be multidisciplinary, organised around a scientific logic and thematic lines, in conjunction with the institutional aspects of training and provision of services” (Article 7 of the Faculty of Psychology and Education Sciences Statutes).
Currently, FPCE-UC has six research groups that include, following a logic of articulation of different areas of knowledge, almost all its teachers.
Technical-Scientific Support Structures
The Faculty has a set of technical and scientific support structures that are intended to support research, teaching and community service, including laboratories and the Data Processing and Analysis Centre (Article 10 of the Faculty’s Statutes).
The Observation Unit on Citizenship and Social Intervention is a research facility and university extension with the main goal of involving students, teachers and volunteers in research dynamics and community participation (via intervention projects and volunteering).
