CINEICC is a Research Unit (RU) based on the Faculty of Psychology and Educational Sciences of the University of Coimbra that was founded in 2003. Since its foundation, CINEICC has developed a great amount of internationally renowned research on the processes involved in psychopathology and in therapeutic change at distinct levels (prevention, therapy) and different clinical conditions (psychiatric disorders, neuropsychological deficits/impairments).
Recently, the RU has been restructured, in order to optimize its
research activity in accordance to their main goals for 2015-2020:
i) Study of health and human functioning determinants and processes;
ii) Psychological and neuropsychological assessment;
iii) Development, application and assessment of empirically-based psychological interventions
The RU restructuring resulted in 3 Research Groups (RGs) that, although
with distinct research goals, are interconnected and complementary:
1) Cognitive and Behavioural Processes and Change: Health and Psychopathology in Different Settings: focuses on vulnerability, maintenance and protective processes involved in mental-health, and on empirically validated interventions;
2) Relationships, Development & Health: focuses on the prevention of illness and promotion of health, with a special focus on reproductive and parenthood issues;
3) Neuroscience, Neuropsychology and Cognitive Assessment) focuses on neuropsychological assessment, neuroscience research and neurocognitive interventions.
