He is a Visual Artist and also tenured Assistant Professor in the Department of Architecture at the Faculty of Science and Technology of the University of Coimbra, being responsibly for subjects: Drawing II and Practices and Concepts of Contemporary Art.
He presented his Pedagogical credentials to the Department of Architecture at the Faculty of Science and Technology of the University of Coimbra in 1994, defending the thesis: “Desenho e artifício” [Design and Artifice].
His Doctoral thesis with the title of: “O campo da arte, segundo Marcel Duchamp” [The field of art, according to Marcel Duchamp] was approved in January 2000.
The conceptual relationships which he has established in his research and art work have led him to use a variety of means to express himself including painting, music and video and also in respect of a strong connection to live performance in order to highlight the communicative potential of a work of art beyond each objective materialisation.
He regularly exhibits his work having organised individual exhibitions in Lisbon, Oporto, Coimbra, Mallorca, Berlin, Frankfurt and New York.
The pluralistic character of his artistic work provides the potential for a transdisciplinary approach in the relationships, one which in the context of teaching can be established by the visual arts and architecture.
