He has headed Social Welfare Services of the University of Coimbra and is an active participant both nationally and internationally in organisations in the field.
He holds a Degree in Law and Post-Graduate Diploma in European Studies from the University of Coimbra, having begun his career as a delegate for the government in the Ministério Público. He is an advisor at the University of Coimbra, and has contributed to institutional organisation of the Higher Education Social Welfare Services on a national level. Other noteworthy activities on his part are that of his work as a lawyer, partner and member of the managing bodies of the University of Coimbra’s Coro dos Antigos Orfeonistas Choir and as President of University Centre for Assistance to the Young and Elderly.
A further testament to his professional activities are the many tributes to his work: for his academic career he was made an Honorary Member of the Coimbra Academic Association including a room named after him in the headquarters of the largest student union in the country; by the University of Coimbra Alumni Association he was given an award for Professional Excellence; and finally he was designated as “Concert of Prestige” by the Orquestra Clássica do Centro.
