She completed a Degree in Chemical Engineering in 1980, a Master’s Degree in Physical Chemistry in 1984 and a Doctorate in Chemical Engineering in the area of Applied Thermodynamics in 1991. all at the University of Coimbra.
She has taught on a wide variety of degree courses, theoretical and practical, in the areas of Chemical Engineering, Industrial Chemistry, Materials Engineering and Environmental Engineering, Industrial Stoichiometry, Processes of Assessment and Simulation, Thermophyical Properties, Assessments of Materials and Energy, and Thermodynamics. She has also written many school books on these areas.
She has coordinated and participated in many research projects on phase equilibrium (ELV and low temperatures and G/L solubility) and thermophyiscal properties, and has directed many post-graduate students in this area. She has had more than forty articles published in scientific journals at home and abroad and has given many conference presentations.
Between 1994 and 1997 she was a member of the Post-Graduate Study Commission of the Department of Chemical Engineering, and has coordinated PRODEQ II and II candidatures. She has also served as the Vice-President of the Executive Commission of the Department of Chemistry, with special responsibility for finance.
