She gained her Doctorate in Fine Arts from the Faculty of Fine Arts of the University of Lisbon in 2010, her thesis being Artes plásticas e pensamento crítico em Portugal nos anos setenta e oitenta: problemáticas de operacionalidade dos conceitos de vanguarda e de pós-modernismo . Since then she has been a post-doctoral researcher in the area of the theory of the image at the Faculty of Letters of the University of Coimbra and at the Université Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne (Arts Plastiques et Sciences de l'Art). She is invited Assistant Professor on the Design and Grafic Production Degree at ISEC – the Higher Institute of Education and Sciences, Lisbon.
She teaches history of art and visual culture and communication and is invited professor at the National Fine Arts Society in Lisbon, and also teaches the course “From the neovanguard to the present”. In addition to these roles she also works as a researcher at the 21st Century Interdisciplinary Studies Centre (CEIS 20) at the University of Coimbra, in the group Artistic Curents and Intellectual Movements, where she coordinates research into visual arts and imagery in the expanded field.
