Marco Daniel Duarte
He is concluding a Doctorate in Art History at the Faculty of Letters of the University of Coimbra, where he did his Bachelor’s degree. His areas of expertise are: Sacred Art, especially in the areas of Iconography and Iconology. He is a Correspondent Member of the Portuguese Academy of History and a member of the Portuguese Art Historian’s Association. His work has been distinguished with awards, amongst which are the Dr. Vasco Valente Award for Decorative Arts given in 1999 for his work analysing the carved structures of pipe organs and also an award fom the Círculo Dr. José de Figueiredo for his work entitled Órgão de Tubos: Corpo, Alma e Divindade [“The Pipe Organ: Body, Soul and Divinity”]. He is the author of several studies that were published in scientific journals and books, such as the following: Faculdade de Letras da Universidade de Coimbra: Ícone do Poder.
