He was born in Porto in 1969 and has a Bachelor’s degree in History and Archaeology Studies from the University of Coimbra. He completed a Master’s degree in Urban Archaeology and a Doctorate in Archaeology with the title of “Agregação” in Archaeology in the area of Materials and Technology at the University of Minho. He has lectured at University of Minho but currently he is a Full Professor at the Faculty of Letters of the University of Porto. He works in collaboration with the Dom Diogo de Sousa Archaeological Museum in the field of Roman materials and he is the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation consultant in themes related to Antiquity. His research work has been devoted to commerce in Antiquity, and the papers he has written or co-written have been published in both national and international journals.
