José Alfeu Almeida de Sá Marques
He holds a Degree in Civil Engineering from the Department of Civil Engineering of the University of Coimbra and also holds a Doctorate in Applied Sciences from the University of Liège in Belgium. He is also author of many papers published in scientific journals at national and international level and has written softward for the sizing and analysis of water supply systems and waste water drainage.
He is a member and President of the organising committees of national and international conferences and has been a member of the Management Council of the Faculty of Science and Technology of the University of Coimbra, Director of the Department of Civil Engineering and President of the Scientific Council of the Higher School of Technology and Management at the the Guarda Polytechnic Institute, Coordinator of the Master’s in Hydraulics, Hydraulic Resources and Envirnoment at the Department of Civil Engineering of the Faculty of Sciences and Technology of the University of Coimbra. He is also Departmental Coordinator of the Erasmus/Socrates Program, Vice-President of the Portuguese Association of Sanitary and Environmental Engineering and member d´ HONNEUR da ASSOCIATION des INGÉNIEURS SORTIES DE L´ UNIVERSITÉ DE LIÈGE, President of the Central Branch of the Portuguese Association of Hydraulic Resources (NRC-APRH), Assembly Chairman of NRC-APRH, President of the Specialist Commission on Hydro-Energy of the Portuguese Association of Hydraulic Resources (CEHE-APRH), member of the Higher Council for Public Works as a specialist in Urban Hydraulics, nominated by the Council of Portuguese University Presidents and he is also member of the Executive Commission of Specialists on Hydraulics and Hydraulic Resources at the Institute of Engineers.
He is a member of the Institute of Engineers serving under the status of Adviser, also with the title of Specialist in Hydraulics and Hydraulic Resources at the Institute of Engineers.
His areas of professional and scientific interest are: hydraulics, hydrodynamics, hydroelectric exploitation, planning, projection and operation of water supply systems and the planning, projection and operation of water drainage systems.
