He graduated in History (Archaeology) in 1979 at the University of Coimbra and completed a Master’s degree in 2003 in History of Pre-Classical Civilizations (Egyptology) at the New University of Lisbon. In 2010 he completed a Doctorate in History (Ancient History, Egyptology) at the University of Lisbon.
He is currently a researcher at the Centre for History of the University of Lisbon.
Between 2000 and 2001 he took part in the first Portuguese archaeological expedition to Memphis, Egypt (Kom Tuman) in the Apriés Palace. He often attends gatherings, symposiums and conference cycles organized by institutions such as the Centre for History of the University of Lisbon and the Faculty of Social and Human Sciences of the New University of Lisbon, the Faculty of Letters of the University of Porto, Portugal and the Egypt Cultural Friendship Society and the National Archaeological Museum. He has published papers on themes related to Egyptology in scientific journals such as Cadmo, published by the History Centre of the University of Lisbon and Res Antiquitatis and the Journal of Ancient History, both published by the New University of Lisbon.
