Victor Barros

He holds a Master’s Degree in Contemporary History from the Faculty of Letters of the University of Coimbra. As a Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation grant holder he developed his research entitled, As Ilhas Como Espaços de Deportação e de Prisão no Estado Novo [“The islands as spaces of deportation and imprisonment in the Estado Novo”] this work being awarded an Honourable Mention at the 2008 Victor de Sá Contemporary History Awards at the University of Minho (Portugal). He is a researcher at the Centre for 20th Century Interdisciplinary Studies of the University of Coimbra (CEIS 20) and has collaborated on many national and international symposiums, seminars and conferences. As a current Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation grant holder he is undertaking his doctoral research in the area of contemporary history (Contemporary History and International Comparative Studies) at the Faculty of Letters of the University of Coimbra.
