Cultural Dissemination and Services to the Community

The University of Coimbra has an extensive programme of cultural activities whose impact is felt far beyond the University and the city of Coimbra.

The most visible face of this aspect of the University’s life is possibly the Academic Theatre of Gil Vicente, but through its various units the University promotes and/or stages a number of performances and events in different areas every year.

The Rectorate issues two comprehensive publications of cultural dissemination, the Cultural Agenda and Rua Larga.

The Cultural Agenda, published every two months, provides information about the most relevant events in the cultural and scientific programming of the Rectorate as well as of the eight Faculties and complementary establishments, university museums, the Academic Theatre of Gil Vicente, the Personnel House, and the National Association of the Employees of Portuguese Universities.

Rua Larga, on the other hand, is defined as a quarterly publication “open to the circulation of ideas flowing in the University since June 2003”. On the left you will find links to the emblematic cultural structures of the University.
