University StadiumThe University Stadium of Coimbra stretches along the left bank of the River Mondego spanning a total area of 12 hectares. In 1963 the first sports facilities of the present Stadium were inaugurated, specifically the Main Field, the Podium, the Training Field (the present Rugby Field), and the fields for other sports (the present Tennis Courts with synthetic floor and brick dust). In 1967 the Multi-Purpose Sports Pavilion was inaugurated (currently Pavilion I) and the construction of Campo Pelado was completed, the following having been completed in subsequent years: Pavilion II, Administrative Services and Workshops, the synthetic floor Tennis Court, Mini-Pavilion, Radio-Controlled Scale Model Track, Pavilion III, Multi-Purpose Sports Hall, and University Restaurant (inaugurated in 2004). The University Stadium currently accommodates 26 different sports and is used by an average of 1,400 people a day.
