Academic degrees: PhD in Civil Engineering (Mechanics of Structures and Materials), University of Coimbra (in cooperation with Delft University of Technology), 2004.
Honours and awards: winner of the Young Researchers and Engineers Programme (YREP), Eurosteel 2005, Maastricht (2005)
Current academic position: Assistant Professor at the Department of Civil Engineering, Polytechnic Institute of Coimbra
External positions: Member of the Technical Committee 10 (Structural Connections) of the European Convention for Constructional Steelwork (ECCS-TC10)
Research areas: Interests: Behaviour and design of steel and composite structures; Design of frames with semi-continuous/partial strength connections; Modelling of connections in metallic and composite material structures; Influence of connection behaviour on the overall performance of frame structures; High performance materials; Structural stability. A particular interest has been the evaluation of the rotation capacity of partial strength connections, where she has participated in several programmes of combined experimental and numerical work that underpin design treatments in European standards. Current research interests also include high performance materials. Skills: Experimental testing, including large scale laboratory experiments; Finite element modelling, including highly nonlinear problems involving plasticity, contact with friction and second-order effects; Stress analysis engineer.
