Welcome to CIEPQPF
The Chemical Process Engineering and Forest Products Research Centre (CIEPQPF) was established in 1994 with the objective of creating a structured framework for the research activities in the Chemical Engineering Department (DEQ) of FCTUC. These research activities are currently integrated into 5 research groups:
- Thermodynamics & Thermophysical Properties of fluids;
- Particles, Polymers and Biomaterials Technology;
- Process Systems Engineering (GEPSI);
- Computing, Statistics & Materials (CEM);
- Reaction, Separation and Environmental Engineering (GERSE).
As part of its mission, CIEPQPF supports the scientific and technical training in the field of Chemical Engineering, both at the undergraduate or graduate levels, while also strengthening the provision of services and participation in activities involving the surrounding society. In this context, the research developed at the Centre has been concerned in particular with the Portuguese Industry needs, having increased the number of projects in collaboration with domestic industries as well as the provision of services to them.
CIEPQPF was evaluated as Excellent in December 2008. In 2010, it counted with 43 eligible integrated researchers holding a doctoral degree (24 Professors from UC, 5 Professors from other schools, 5 auxiliary researchers and 9 Post Docs). These members supervise approximately 49 grant holders (PhD students and members of projects funded by FCT, by the European Union or by the national industry, namely under the QREN framework). Additionally, 28 members from other institutions collaborate in a regular basis in the scientific activities that take place at CIEPQPF.
