The Chemical Process Engineering and Forest Products Research Centre (CIEPQPF) was established in 1994 with the objective of creating a structured framework for the research activities in the Chemical Engineering Department (DEQ) of FCTUC. These research activities are currently organised into 4 research groups:
As part of its mission, CIEPQPF supports the scientific and technical training in the field of Chemical Engineering, both at the undergraduate or graduate levels, while also strengthening the provision of services and participation in activities involving the surrounding society. In this context, the research developed at the Centre has been concerned in particular with the Portuguese Industry needs, having increased the number of projects in collaboration with domestic industries as well as the provision of services to them.
CIEPQPF was evaluated as Very Good (22/25) by an international panel in 2014. In 2014, it counts with 47 integrated researchers holding a doctoral degree (28 Professors from UC, 4 Professors from other schools, 3 auxiliary researchers, 9 post-docs and 3 PhDs from industry). These members supervise approximately 50 grant holders (PhD students and members of projects funded by FCT, by the European Union or by the national industry, namely under the QREN framework). Additionally, 28 members from other institutions collaborate in a regular basis in the scientific activities that take place at CIEPQPF.
