The journal of the Faculty of Arts and Humanities of the University of Coimbra, Biblos Revista da Faculdade de Letras da Universidade de Coimbra, assumes an interdisciplinary orientation and is intended to a receptive public interested in the Humanities, the Social Sciences and the promotion of Arts and Culture. The journal accepts articles written in Portuguese, English, French, Spanish, Italian and German. It is published annually, it is organized thematically and it is peer reviewed. The journal is published online at Impactum https://impactum.uc.pt/pt-pt, a location within the site of Coimbra University Press, and also in paper copies.
Biblos was founded in 1925 — its subtitle was “Boletim da Biblioteca da Faculdade de Letras da Universidade de Coimbra”, which became the current title as early as 1927 — following a decision of Joaquim Mendes dos Remédios. The journal launched a new series in 2003 (second series), which was simultaneously renewed and faithful to tradition. In 2015, as a response to contemporary challenges and demanding international standards, the first journal of the third series was published.
Biblos aims to promote and disseminate accurate
scientific studies. Also, every magazine includes an interview to a figure of
recognized merit and a set of critical reviews on that issue’s theme.
