The present invention relates to a multigrid high-pressure gaseous proportional scintillation counter for detecting ionizing radiation such as X-rays, gamma rays, electrons or other charged leptons, alpha particles or other charged particles, and for giving information about the energy dissipated in the gas and the detection time, using an electronic pulse with an amplitude approximately proportional to that energy. It is essentially characterized by virtue of: external metallic walls (1) at ground potential; a pure and/or continuously purified noble gas, or a noble gas in a mixture under a filling pressure ranging from 1-100 atmospheres; a reflective CsI photocathode; four metallic grids: G1 (2), G2 (3), G3 (4) and G4 (5) with a thin mesh and high optical transmission, not lower than 80%, forming five regions delimited by these grids (2, 3, 4, 5), wherein the voltage applied to the grids through the feedthroughs (9) produces electric fields which do not vary over time in the various zones of the detector.
