Objetivo principal: Reforçar a investigação, o desenvolvimento tecnológico e a inovação
Título: Improvements on the fatigue behavior of additive manufacturing titanium alloys components
Área Científica: Mechanical Engineering
Síntese do Projeto: Selective laser melting (SLM) developments became a technique able to producing complex shaped structural components, particularly in aeronautical and automobile industries, in which leads to societal impact advantages: reduction of weight and energy consummation, and providing geometric freedom. Recent studies state that for some materials, SLM parts are able to offer static mechanical properties comparable to the properties of conventionally produced parts from bulk materials. However, there are still insufficient data about fatigue behavior. Current project intend to detail the understanding of in service fatigue and wear behavior of Titanium components aiming applications in aeronautical and automobile industries and medical prostheses. In particular, the project will study the influence of thermal treatments on fatigue strength, the fatigue behavior from notches and the propagation of fatigue cracks, including transient regime after overloads and the induced crack closure.
