CIE researchers Professor Fausto Freire, Dr. Carla Rodrigues and doctoral student Jade Müller Carneiro, visited the Brazilian Agricultural Research Corporation (Embrapa), at the Agroindustry Tropical unit in Fortaleza, Brazil, in November 2022. The visit was part of the SET-LCA project (CENTRO-01-0145-FEDER - 030570), which relies on collaboration between CIE/ADAI, Embrapa and INESCC.

CIE researchers visited the laboratories of biomass technology, bioprocesses, packaging, among others, accompanied by researchers Maria Cléa Figueirêdo, Morsyleide Rosa, Men de Sá and others. Meetings were held to discuss the experiences of the SET-LCA project regarding the development of prospective LCA approaches for bioproducts in early stages of development (e.g., biopolymer films, bio-nanomaterials, natural food dyes, bio-methane). Professor Fausto and Dr. Carla also gave lectures to Embrapa employees about CIE projects and LCA work, ecodesign, and circular economy.
