On September 21, 2020, the Opening Session of the Online Series of Lectures on Portuguese Literature BFSU-UC was held via Zoom, with a lecture from Prof. José de Faria Costa (Full Professor at the Faculty of Law of the University of Coimbra, former Ombudsman and Director of the Faculty of Law of the Universidade Lusófona de Lisboa) on “Silk and Burlap Ties between Literature and Politics”, under the moderation of Prof. Cristina Robalo Cordeiro (Full Professor at the Faculty of Arts and Humanities of the University of Coimbra).

Prof. João Nuno Calvão da Silva (Vice-Rector for External Relations and Alumni of the University of Coimbra) was in charge of the formal opening with Prof. Rui Gama (Deputy Director of the Sino-Lusophone Academy and Director of the Faculty of Arts and Humanities of the University of Coimbra).

The session was closed with speeches by Prof. Ke Jing (Director of the International Relations Office at Beijing Foreign Studies University), Prof. Zhang Fangfang (Director of the Portuguese Studies Department at Beijing Foreign Studies University) and Prof. Cristina Zhou (Coordinator of the Lectures, Faculty of Arts and Humanities, University of Coimbra).

Afterwards, Prof. Maria do Rosário Ferreira gave a lecture on “Galician-Portuguese songs and the genesis of the Portuguese language”.
