After a first edition in 2024, the University of Coimbra (UC) and the National Association of Municipal Assemblies (ANAM) are promoting the 2nd edition of the Lusophone Municipal Conference, on 23 June 2025, in Seminar Room 1.01 of the Colégio da Trindade.
The opening session will feature speeches by João Nuno Calvão da Silva, Vice-Rector for External Relations and Alumni of the UC; Fernanda Paula Oliveira, Principal Coordinator of the Conference; José Manuel Silva, Mayor of Coimbra; Jorge Veloso, President of ANAFRE; Leida dos Santos, President of the General Council of the National Association of Cape Verdean Municipalities (ANMCV); Isílio Coelho, Ambassador of the CPLP; Artur Silva, Ambassador of Guinea-Bissau; Marcelino Félix, Counsellor of the Angolan Embassy; Clara Almeida Santos, Honorary Consul of Cape Verde; and José Manuel Pavão, Honorary Consul of Guinea-Bissau.
The conference programme includes three panels with the participation of representatives from various Portuguese-speaking countries: Angola, Brazil, Cape Verde, Guinea-Bissau, Mozambique, Portugal, São Tomé and Príncipe and East Timor.
Topics such as ‘Municipal Governance’, ‘Municipal Electoral Law: from the rules applicable to the participation and election of non-nationals to the debate on its modernisation’ and ‘Current Issues in Municipal Urban Law in Lusophone Countries’ will be debated.
