Thinking Palestine after Gaza

Within the Axes of Interdisciplinary Knowledge, Arlene Clemesha (USP/UM) will deliver the session “Thinking Palestine after Gaza” on November 11 at 11am in the CEIS20 Seminar Room with online transmission on Zoom (ID: 931 8790 9880).

"The Israeli offensive on the Gaza Strip and the genocidal situation that has arisen in this small coastal strip have been interpreted in different ways. While Israel and its allies try to justify the offensive with arguments of ‘self-defence’ and place the beginning of everything in the Hamas attacks of 7 October, others point to the fact that well before 7 October there were already many signs of Israel's desire to change the demographic configuration of historic Palestine. In this sense, we seek to situate the place of the genocide in Palestinian history; and (re)think Palestinian history from the consummation of the current genocide. Finally, we propose a reflection on what Gaza can tell us about the future of Palestine and the possibilities of Arab-Jewish coexistence in the region."
