As part of his PhD in Contemporary Studies, Álvaro Garrido, an CEIS20 integrated researcher of Group 1 - History, Memory, Public Policies, will preset a DEC Open Class entitled The Social Economy in Portugal from 1974 to the present day: institutionalisation, public policies and debates at 9am of November 4th at CEIS20.
Biography
Álvaro Garrido has been a professor and researcher focussing on Economic and Social History since 1995. A researcher at the Centre for Interdisciplinary Studies at the University of Coimbra (CEIS20), he is mainly dedicated to the study of contemporary history, with an emphasis on the 20th century, and explores the Portuguese institutional space, including comparative approaches. Her work reflects a strong link between research and teaching, and she stands out for her pedagogical ethics, encouragement of scientific creativity and concern for writing for a wider audience, beyond specialists. Based on the subject of his doctorate, he specialised in the areas of fisheries and the economy of the sea, expanding into the study of economic corporatism and, more recently, the social economy. Her publications include individual books, coordinated works, international articles, chapters in collective books and cultural texts, including film and exhibition guides, and critical re-editions of works relevant to the social memory of maritime communities.
