Marking the beginning of the 2024/2025 academic year, the PhD in Contemporary Studies of CEIS20 resumes the lecture series "Axes of Interdisciplinary Knowledge" with an Inaugural Lecture by José Pacheco Pereira, titled "As Memórias não são todas iguais" ("Not All Memories Are Alike"). The event will take place in the Garden of CEIS20 - Casa das Ardenas, on September 23rd at 2:30 PM. The session will be exclusively in-person, with no possibility of online streaming.

BIOGRAPHY

José Pacheco Pereira was born in Porto in 1949. He participated in the struggle against the dictatorship before the April 25th Revolution. He has taught at various educational levels and served as a member of the Portuguese Parliament and the European Parliament, as well as a leader of the PSD (Social Democratic Party). He has published over a dozen books on History and Politics. Pacheco Pereira is a regular contributor to print media, radio, and television. He is the creator of the SIC Notícias program Ponto Contraponto and a panelist on Portugal's longest-running political debate show, Quadratura do Círculo. He is also the author of the blogs Abrupto, Estudos sobre o Comunismo, and Ephemera. For many years, he has been dedicated to preserving books, periodicals, documents, and objects related to contemporary Portuguese history. He founded and manages the Ephemera Archive/Library, the largest private archive in Portugal.
