The Projectory - Reading and Analysing Calls: Strategies for researchers, workshop by Sofia Vaz and Cristina Gouveia (S.714 - Sustainability and Ethics), will take place on 6th November at 2.30pm in the CEIS20 Seminar Room.

Getting competitive funding has become a highly structured activity that requires from researchers a thorough understanding of the rules of funding programs and strategic alignment of the proposals to be submitted with the objectives of funding institutions. Given the high competitiveness of European calls, researchers need to thoroughly study all the materials—from a call description to evaluation criteria—before submitting any application. Applying for European funding goes beyond simply securing financial resources. It represents an opportunity for researchers to expand their network of partners, join truly interdisciplinary international teams, and enrich the experience that a research career offers.

This workshop aims to identify the opportunities that funding programs may provide to workshop participants, considering the available resources. Using existing calls relevant to the centre's research areas, the workshop participants will be guided through a practical analysis of calls and brainstorming of ideas to outline action plans aligned with their aspirations.

The workshop is composed of three parts:

  1. Exploring European funding opportunities;
  2. Practical analysis of call descriptions and applications;
  3. Brainstorming of ideas and strategic planning.

By the end of the workshop, its participants will have greater confidence in their ability to attract funding, and in reading and interpreting European calls for proposals. It will help increase their chances of success in securing funding.
