Biografia
Jorge Seabra has a PhD in contemporary history, specializing in cinema, namely cinema and history; memory of colonialism, censorship and film analysis. A lecturer in higher education since 1994, he has taught contemporary history at the Portuguese Catholic University, film history at the Faculty of Letters of the University of Coimbra and on the Documentary Film course (ESTA-IPT), as well as on the PhD course in Contemporary Studies at CEIS20. At CEIS20 he was a board member, coordinator of the Artistic Currents and Intellectual Movements group, researcher responsible for the Cinema and Time area and the Temporality and Mediations research line. He was programmer and coordinator of film festivals: International Film Festival of Portuguese-Speaking Countries (Aveiro); Coimbra in Motions (Coimbra); Mar Film Festival (Ílhavo). He curated the film cycles Máscaras (Figueira da Foz) and Flor de Lótus II. Portuguese Cinema with a Colonial Theme (BGUC). He has given lectures in various countries on topics of his specialization, and has published in national and international journals. He is the author of África nossa.
