Biografia
Theatre director, actor, playwright, researcher and professor. Graduated in Electronics and Telecommunications Engineering at the University of Aveiro (1993), MA in Dramatic Text at the Faculty of Humanities of the University of Porto (2007), and PhD in Artistic Studies at the University of Coimbra (2017). Founder and artistic director of Marionet Theatre Company (www.marioneteatro.com), he directed more than 50 plays, having also participated as actor and as playwright in more than 30 of them. Published plays: "Revolution of the Celestial Bodies" (MAFIA, 2006), "Meeting in Possible" (CETUP, 2006), "The Expression of the Emotions" and "LED - Inner Voyage in a Computer" (University of Coimbra Press, 2018). Published translations: "Monsieur de Chimpanzé'' by Jules Verne (Marionet, 2010) and "Calculus" by Carl Djerassi (University of Coimbra Press, 2011). Senior researcher at the Centre for Interdisciplinary Studies of the University of Coimbra, he was an invited professor of Performance and Theatre Studies at the University of Coimbra (2018 to 2023) and the associate director at Gil Vicente Academic Theatre (2015 to 2017). Current research: the interactions between the performing arts and science, including science dramaturgies, worldwide production of plays related to science, research-based theatre, theatre with researchers and the performing arts in science communication. Most recent publications include the co-edited book “Theatre About Science: Theory and Practice” (Coimbra University Press, 2023) and the chapter “The Voice and Bodies of Science: Theatre with Researchers”, in Science & Theatre: Communicating Science and Technology with Performing Arts (Emerald, 2022).
