CEIS20 Rated as Excellent by FCT under the Multiannual Program for Financing R&D Units 2023/2024

The Centre for Interdisciplinary Studies of the University of Coimbra (CEIS20) has recently been awarded the highest rating of Excellent in the preliminary results of the Multiannual Program for Financing R&D Units 2023/2024, promoted by the Portuguese Foundation for Science and Technology (FCT).

This recognition stems from a rigorous and competitive evaluation process, which assessed the scientific quality, organisational capacity, and impact of the work carried out. The Excellent rating confirms CEIS20’s standing as a leading research centre at both national and international levels, and as a privileged space for the production of interdisciplinary, innovative, and socially engaged knowledge.

CEIS20 extends its sincere thanks to its entire scientific community — researchers, staff, and institutional partners — whose dedicated and generous contributions made this result possible. This evaluation acknowledges a collective trajectory marked by strategic redefinition and the consolidation of CEIS20 as a laboratory for interdisciplinarity.

With this new cycle (2025–2029), we reaffirm our commitment to scientific excellence and the production of knowledge that responds to contemporary challenges. In the coming months, several initiatives will be launched to shape this new strategic phase, encouraging active participation across the community and reinforcing CEIS20’s educational, scientific, and social mission.
