Editorial | Behind the scenes at CEIS20

It is with particular pleasure that we write this joint editorial for the July 2025 Newsletter, as members of the CEIS20 staff team.

We have shared a significant part of the Centre's journey. We have witnessed its growth, its transformations, the challenges it has faced, and the achievements it has reached — and we have had the privilege of contributing, from behind the scenes, to making many of those moments possible.

To be present at this particular moment, when CEIS20 sees its work recognised through the award of an Excellent rating by the FCT, is a source of immense pride for us. This recognition represents the culmination of a collective and ongoing effort — not only on the part of the researchers but also from the staff team, who ensure the day-to-day management of CEIS20 with dedication and professionalism.

Throughout our time at the Centre, we have grown professionally, but also personally. Working at CEIS20 has been a profoundly enriching experience, marked by close contact with research, collaboration with researchers and colleagues from various scientific fields, and an environment that encourages critical thinking and teamwork.

We would also like to highlight the commitment and sense of purpose that guide our work. We know that our contribution, although often discreet, is essential for the Centre to operate, assert itself, and continue to fulfil its mission. And it is this sense of belonging — of being part of something with real impact — that motivates us every day.

We hope to continue being part of this team and to contribute to the path that CEIS20 has been forging.
