The UC summer intern, Gracinda Marigorta, and CEIS20 communication technician, Madalena Rodrigues, signed together the Editorial of the July 2024 Monthly Newsletter.
The Role of Communication at CEIS20
The journey of the current communication team reflects their dedication and connection to communication and design, as well as their interdisciplinary complementarity through art and multimedia. Guided by Carolina Coelho, a member of the Scientific Coordination Board responsible for the Center's communication, Gracinda Marigorta and Madalena Rodrigues began their journey at CEIS20 through university projects and internships, providing valuable experiences and enhancing their skills.
This year, Gracinda completed a summer internship at UC, supporting the implementation of the current official CEIS20 website. During this period, she provided design and communication services, web strategy, and photography. This internship was crucial for her professional development, giving her an in-depth understanding of the importance of an efficient digital presence and teaching her how to develop well-defined strategies to ensure smooth and impactful user interaction, valuing the audience's experience.
On the other hand, Madalena started her CEIS20 journey through a university project in Art and Design at ESEC and at CEIS20 in Communication Design, where she participated in the graphic development of the "25 de Abril: Rumo ao Cinquentenário" project in 2023. This project included graphic design services such as visual identity and advertising design, encompassing informative roll-ups, digital materials, and social media. Later, these experiences solidified her ability to ensure intuitive and effective interaction as the Center's communication technician.
Design plays an essential role in how information is conveyed and in identifying a company's identity. Through the creation of visual elements such as typography, color, images, and composition, design ensures consistent communication, conveying the brand's values and intentions to the public—the same foundation as communication. In the realm of advertising and marketing at CEIS20, design enhances the effectiveness and impact of campaigns, being fundamental to capturing attention and communicating information in a way that is accessible and coherent with the scientific activity and services offered.
The experience and training in design and communication of these professionals, combined with art and multimedia, allow them to create visual solutions that not only meet CEIS20's functional communication needs but also enrich the essential digital interaction in this contemporary era.
