Projectory: Research in Perspective

A project, regardless of its area of application, has three variables: scope, duration and budget. A research project is different in the sense that two variables – duration and budget – are determined by funding agencies. Is it possible to present innovative and successful applications within those limitations?

The secret lies in a perfect combination of resources (human, material, institutional, etc.), experience and planning. Aiming to help the scientific community find this perfect combination, CEIS20 has launched a bimonthly cycle of initiatives emerging from the previous experience of “Projects in Dialogue”, which we call “Projectory – Research in perspective”, – a space that aims to be a laboratory of successful projects. It is also a space to share emerging project ideas, receive feedback from successful applicants and institutional experts, and seek internal partnerships. The “Projectory” provides pre-application and ongoing support to the preparation of national and international, individual and team applications. It involves the whole CEIS20 research community, including doctoral students and early career researchers. Moreover, to reach beyond the UC and promote internationalization of the centre's activities, we promote events aimed at researchers outside CEIS20 who want to be hosted here.

In a set of sessions of varying formats - from hands-on workshops to guidance sessions - the Projectory addresses both topics linked to specific applications and calls (e.g., how to write a CEEC individual career plan; how to calculate person-months in an FCT application), as well as transversal and comprehensive to all scientific activity (e.g., on time management; how to identify journals to publish, etc.).
