The EfS Initiative part of the collaborative network on the project “European Campus of University Cities - EC2U”

The EfS Initiative is part of a collaborative network Integrated by the University of Coimbra, together with the Universities of Iasi (Romania), Jena (Germany), Pavia (Italy), Poitiers (France), Salamanca (Spain) and Turku (Finland). The Alliance “European Campus of University Cities - EC2U” was one of the applications selected by the European Commission as part of the pilot phase of the “European Universities” call for 2020.

The project on European Campus of City-Universities aims to contribute with the development of series of initiatives such as the creation of a Sustainable Cities and Communities Virtual Institute, a MSc in Sustainable Cities and Communities, Sustainable Campi@EC2U (10 Targets of UNSDG 11), Actions for Cities and Regions, and Interactions with other WPs.

Sustainable Cities and Communities Virtual Institute

The virtual institute will involve the participation of the University of Coimbra, University of Poitiers, University of Paiva and the University of Turku in the following topics:

· Sustainable Retrofitting and/or Reuse of University Historical Buildings (U Coimbra, U Poitiers, U Pavia);

· Resilience to Heat Waves of Sensible Population Groups in Europe (U Coimbra);

· Health Effects of Planning and Management of Urban Green Areas (U Turku)
