Economic and Environmental Sustainability of Electric Vehicle Systems

EESEVS is a research project promoted by the Institute for Computers and Systems Engineering at Coimbra (INESC Coimbra), the Association for the Development of Industrial Aerodynamics, the Institute of Systems and Robotics and MIT, financed by the Portuguese Foundation for Science and Technology for the period 2010-2013, in the framework of the MIT Portugal Program. The EESEVS project intends to perform an economic and environmental sustainability assessment of electric vehicle systems.Within an engineering systems approach, the project uses engineering, social science, and management tools to analyze a large‐scale complex problem. The assembled team of multidisciplinary researchers includes experts on electric vehicles (General Motors, Move Mile, EVIberia, ISR, INESC Coimbra), economic and environmental analysis of the automotive industry (MIT ESD), economic and environmental analysis of the power generation industry (ADAI, EDP), and decision analysis for sustainable energy (INESC Coimbra).
