Launch of a website that reveals the 'secrets' of botany over 100 years old

The researchers from the Center for Functional Ecology - Science for People & the Planet, António Gouveia and Joaquim Santos talked about the website CARTAS DA NATUREZA, which reveals all the details of the exchanges of correspondence between botanists at the University of Coimbra (UC), at the end of the century. nineteenth and early twentieth century.

The platform, which has been online since last week, contains taxonomic and geographic information of potential importance for the definition of strategies for the promotion and conservation of biodiversity in Portugal and several Portuguese-speaking countries, was launched by the UC with the contribution of more than a thousand scientists- citizens, who collaborated in the transcription of the letters.
