Biografia
Carlos Martins is an architect and Assistant Professor at the Department of Architecture of the University of Coimbra. Was responsible for Urbanism (2015-2018) and Design Studio II (2018-2021) and coordinator of the Integrated Master in Architecture (2021). Graduated in Architecture from the Faculty of Architecture of the University of Porto (1986), had his own studio with architect Elisiário Miranda between 1986 and 2006. Among other works, is the author of the University Residence II of Pólo II of the University of Coimbra. Holds PhD in Architecture from the University of Coimbra with a thesis on public works in Portugal in late eighteenth century, which was awarded the Pina Manique International Research Prize (Academia Portuguesa da História). Is an Associate Researcher at the Centre of Earth and Space Research of the University of Coimbra (CITEUC). Main research interests are the transformation processes of the territory and urban space, with an emphasis on the study of technical and scientific activity from the Enlightenment period. Has collaborated in books and scientific journals, having authored the book Os projectos para o porto de São Martinho e campos de Alfeizerão, 1774-1800 (Coimbra: Edarq, 2018).
