The Department of Mathematics offers its students excellent studying conditions and many opportunities to integrate the academy's life.

The Department of Mathematics includes the best Mathematical Library in Portugal, and one of the best in the Iberian Peninsula, holding about 31 000 books and a vast number of scientific journals. Students have wide access to computer resources through more than a hundred computer terminals in its Computation Centre or through the wireless access to registered users. There are several Reading Rooms.
