Synopsis

In the first centenary of the birth of Egídio Namorado, the anthology now published by the University of Coimbra Press makes known to the reader much of the writings of one of the greatest epistemologists of science in the 20th century in Portugal. A man of science and culture, a citizen committed to the social and issues of his time, simple, serene, kind, sagacious, with a blazing intelligence, indefatigable worker, with curiosity without, with multiple and varied interests, without haste, cultivating a review reflection on the rigor, but never renounce. The core of the work, published in the first part of the collection, consists of a coherent set of innovative essays on different aspects of the episteology of science and the scientific method, including its evolution since Greek antiquity in the third quarter of the last century. In the final part of this Physics section there is a scientific article Atomica, which in the introduction reflects the nature of the author, masterfully crossing languages and knowledge. Part includes subjects on many different subjects, from scientific dissemination and the time, to the philosophical influences of Camões and technological Person, especially to the history of Portugal, especially to the theory of the discoverers.

João Carlos Namorado Clímaco is a retired Full Professor at the Faculty of Economics of the University of Coimbra. He is currently a researcher and member of the General Council of INESC-Coimbra (the research unit in which he is integrated).
