Rios na sala de aulas: da teoria à prática
Description: Watercourses are among the ecosystems with the greatest loss of biodiversity on the planet. Despite the numerous services they provide, the relationship between rivers and streams and man is not always "peaceful". To protect them and anticipate the consequences of anthropogenic activities, it is necessary to know these ecosystems, how they function, how we can assess their health? This workshop will include a theoretical "visit" to forested watercourses and will present experimental approaches (simple and accessible) that can be developed in the classroom.

Soapbox Science Coimbra 2022
Description: Soapbox Science is a global science communication initiative promoting women and science. This initiative transforms public places, such as parks and streets, into an arena for public learning and scientific debate. "SoapBox is a concept that originated in the 1870s in London at the Speakers Corner, where debates took place in the open air, and where speakers, to stand out from the crowd, would climb into wooden boxes carrying soap. This first edition of Soapbox Science Coimbra intends to give the opportunity to all people to enjoy, learn, question, interact and be inspired by 12 women scientists from the University of Coimbra. These women are challenged to climb a wooden box, and without a microphone, to present their research in a simple and understandable way in the streets of Coimbra, from Alta to Baixa.

Desfrutamo-nos ou esgotamo-nos na experiência comunitária? A reprodução de valores em modelos agroalimentares solidários em Portugal
Description: This seminar presents some reflections on the (re)production of values (use value, exchange value and ethical values) in grassroots communities that aim to build alternatives to the capitalist agro-food model in Portugal. We look at our experiences with Rizoma Cooperativa Integral in Lisbon and with three Associations for the Maintenance of Proximity Agriculture in Palmela, Alvalade and Montemor-o-Novo for this purpose. We discuss, in particular, how this (re)production of values and the tensions that emerge between divergent values manifest themselves in the processes of decision-making and self-organisation of work in these initiatives, and what effects are generated in the experience of their participants. The experiences brought to the debate illustrate everyday and structural factors that (dis)encourage involvement in social and solidarity economy experiences in contemporary Portugal.

The interviews will allow us to map relevant work carried out in our country and in the neighbouring country, not only in the academy, in the sciences, but also in activism, the arts, care, work, trade unionism, etc. The format of an interview with an audience, in presence, will allow an initial dialogue between interviewer / interviewee and an opening for debate.
