Armando Malheiro da Silva

He was born in Braga in 1957 and holds a Degree in Philosophy from the Braga Faculty of Philosophy of the Portuguese Catholic University and a Degree in History from the Faculty of Letters of the University of Oporto. He is also a graduate of the former Librarian-Archivist Degree Course of the Faculty of Letters at the University of Coimbra. He presented his credentials for the award of Master at the University of Minho in 1989 with a dissertation entitled: “Ideologia e Mito no Miguelismo: Subsídios para o estudo da contra-revolução no Portugal oitocentista” [Ideology and Myth in Miguelism: Subsidies for the study of the eighteenth century Portuguese counter-revolution]. He received his Doctorate from the University of Minho in 1999 with a thesis that dealt with the following issue: “Sidónio e Sidonismo. História e Mito” [Sidónio and Sidónionism: History and Myth]. He is Associate Professor at the Faculty of Letters of the University of Oporto and contributor to the 20th Century Centre for Interdisciplinary Studies at the University of Coimbra (CEIS 20).
