Jorge Paiva

Jorge Paiva, born on the 17th September 1933, in Angola, graduated in Biology and made his PHD in Natural Resources and Environment. Before retiring, he was a researcher in the Faculty of Sciences, University of Coimbra, where he taught several subjects. He also collaborated as an invited professor in the Faculty of Pharmacy (University of Coimbra), and in the Universities of Aveiro, Madeira, Vasco da Gama (Coimbra) and Vigo (Spain). He was distinguished with several prizes for his scientific activity and his environment defense. He published different texts on phyllotaxonomy, palinology, biodiversity and environment and presented various papers in conferences and pedagogical actions.
